Florida Marriage Licensing Facts:

- You must have the license with you at the
time of the wedding.
Out of state licenses are not legal. Nor is a license from Florida valid in
any other state. It is valid in International waters such as sunset cruises.
- While marriage licensing is
controlled by the state it is managed by the county.

- Brides and grooms must apply in person together and
provide both photo ID with birth date (Drivers License, Pass Port, Student ID
etc.) and must provide Social Security numbers. If either party have
been previously married, dates of "end of marriage" must be provided.
Divorce filing date or death certificate filing date. This applies to resident and non-residents

- You may apply for a license in any county in Florida and the license is valid in any
county within the state.
- Only the bride
can changer her name on the license.

- For
Florida residences only there is a 3 day statutory waiting period on all licenses, however waiting periods are waved and you can save on your license fee if you
attend 3 days of premarital counseling . (In mixed native weddings i.e.
1 Floridian and 1 out-of-towner, the 3 day waiting period applies unless the
Floridian takes the class)
- Your marriage license is only good for 60
days (2 months)

A Florida Marriage license can be obtained by through accredited agencies by mail, saving you half a day in the court house. Prices range from $200. to $300. depending on how quickly you need the license and how much Fed Ex or Express Mail is required. I am currently gathering lists of these service providers, and it may take some time as I am background checking each to be sure they are legitimate. - Florida license provides a space for witness however witnesses are not
required.
Applicants must be 18 years old to obtain a marriage license. Sixteen (16), and Seventeen (17) year olds must have parent's consent. If you are younger, parent's consent/consent of a judge, and proven pregnancy may apply, depending on the age & situation. Both applicants must appear in person at the time of application.
